CIRCLE (TRIBAL) MEETING OUTLINE

 

OPENING RITUALS

The Drum Beater is the son of the Host Dad.

Tribal Chief:                  “Drum Beater, Beat the Drum once for every Father & Son”

Tribal Chief:                  “Drum Beater, what is an Adventure Guide?”

Drum Beater:                “A boy with a dad like mine

Tribal Chief:                  “And the beating of the drum, what does it mean?”

Drum Beater:                “The beating of the drum calls the tribe together

Tribal Chief:                  “What is the slogan of the Adventure Guides?”

Everyone:                     “Friends Forever

Tribal Chief:                  “What is the pledge of the Adventure Guides?”

Everyone:                     “We, father and son, through friendly service to each other, to our family, to this tribe, to our community, seek a world pleasing to the eye of the Creator.”

Tribal Chief:              Prayer -- “Oh Creator, as we gather around this tribal council, dwell among us and guide us. Give us wisdom and understanding in this the month of the _(month)_ moon.

Pledge of Allegiance

Roll Call (each father & son saying their name and Adventurer name)

Tribal Wampum (Dues) -- each boy describes a good deed he has done to earn his wampum

Aims

To be clean in body and pure in heart

To be Friends Forever with my Father/Son

To love the sacred circle of my family

To listen while others speak

To love my neighbor as myself

To respect the traditions and beliefs of all people

To seek and preserve the beauty of the Creator's work in forest, field and stream

Individual Aims – Each Dad/Son must recite the aims to the tribe to earn the sacred wooden beads (should be the initial goal of all new members).

White Bearclaws – Each Dad/Son must recite the first name and Adventurer name of each tribal member to earn the sacred white bearclaw.

Scouting Reports – Any news or information from each Guide

Chief Talk -- Tribal Business / Upcoming activities and events (keep it to just a few minutes)

Story – a short children’s story book from home (5-10 minutes). Can be read by the son, depending on reading skill level.

Craft – Recommend that the host also provide the craft. Let the host dad decide if he is equipped to handle a messy craft!

Refreshments – Soda or juice, cookies

 

CLOSING RITUALS

And now (finger pointing to the ground, stirring imaginary campfire)

may the Creator (finger circling up, imitating smoke)

of all things big and small  (arms stretched)

be with you and you and you...(finger pointing around the circle)

now (finger pointing down)

and forever (action of shooting bow and arrow)
